When it comes to space happenings, few are as tense, interesting, and excessive stakes as landing a vehicle on some other planet. Within minutes, NASA’s Perseverance rover will activity to stick the landing on Mars, kicking off a new era in red planet exploration.

While NASA has a lot of journey with delivering machines to Mars (here’s searching at you, Curiosity and InSight), that does not make it any simpler this time. “Landing on Mars is hard,” NASA said. “Only about 40% of the missions ever despatched to Mars by way of any area agency have been successful.”

It’s going to be a wild ride. Here’s what to count on on Perseverance’s landing day.
