For weeks, rumors have circulated regarding when the next PlayStation Showcase will take place. Fans have now received an answer.
The next PlayStation Showcase will take place on Wednesday, May 24 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, according to Sony. That will be a week from today, on May 17.
Unlike its “State of Play” performances, which focus on a few titles, PlayStation Showcase events are longer-form programs that focus on future PlayStation 5 games.
“The show will run a little more than an hour, focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios around the world,” Sony announced. “Expect to see several new PlayStation Studios creations, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators.”
Final Fantasy XVI, Atlas Fallen, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are among the games that fans may witness.
It will be broadcast on both YouTube and Twitch. Those who want to co-stream the event should be aware that the material will most likely contain copyrighted information, according to Sony.
“We welcome and celebrate our incredible co-streamers and creators,” Sony wrote. “However, licensing agreements beyond our control may interfere with co-streams or VOD archives of this stream.” “We recommend removing any copyrighted music if you plan to save this broadcast as a VOD to create recap videos or repost clips or segments from the show.”
Next Wednesday’s PlayStation Showcase will also feature PSVR2 games
The title, though, may be the most interesting portion of the announcement: “new IP are headed to PS5 and PSVR2.” The possibility of some new properties being introduced makes this presentation one to keep an eye on. In addition to any surprises, it should confirm Sony’s offers for 2023 and beyond, especially given the company’s expectations to sell another 25 million PS5s this year.
